Life in Milan

Where to live

An apartment, a hotel or a residence?
Students who live in Milan for several months usually rent an apartment locally, perhaps sharing it with colleagues.
A hotel is ideal for the first few days.
Many hotels offer special rates for Bocconi students. For information and bookings call 199.199.650 (from Italy) or +39.0871 803614 (from abroad).
If you prefer a residence, there are various possibilities, some of which are within easy reach of the school and offer special rates.
There is an external consultant as well, who'll help you find accommodation in a very short time.

Getting Around

Many students opt for a bicycle or a scooter so as to be able to travel around Milan independently. These can be parked within the School.
However the area around Bocconi is well served by public transport. Tickets are valid for all surface lines and for one trip on the underground.
Weekly memberships and season tickets for students are available in newsagents and tobacconists.
It's easy to reach the SDA Bocconi from outside Milan.
For taxis in Milan call 024040, 026767, 028585.
You can also book one if you call four or five hours beforehand one of the above numbers, or you can book an "on-call bus" (to know more Radiobus).

Sport

An MBA is not all studying, there's sport too.
The European MBA Tournament ("Masteriadi") held every year in Paris at the HEC is an ideal occasion for showing team spirit and excellence.
Sailing fans can join the MBA's Cup - Mediterranean Regatta and Conference, the sailing week-end, the Barcolana or the Cranfield regatta. Ideal opportunities to have fun and show what you can do.
The school also organizes an MBA Ski Cup, but being a couple of hours from Europe's most beautiful mountains makes it easy to organize skiing weekend in small groups.
Soccer tournaments or jogging in the parks near the school offer further opportunities for sports enthusiasts.
There's the "Naviglio Pavese" for canoeists and many gyms, including the "Palestra Bocconi", nearby clubs, swimming pools and sports centres.

Studying

MBA students will spend most of their time studying.
The majority of them prefer to study at the school, which takes care of all their needs.
The intake, composed of around 50 students for each section, comes together in different ways during the program, varying from the whole class to a small group.
The MBA facilities consist of 12 classrooms equipped with multimedia stations and more than 80 areas for group work. A reading room for individual study is also available. The Masters Division is equipped with a dedicated wireless system.
Your participant's badge also offers:

  • access to the Bocconi Library and its services, with more than half a million volumes and 7,000 periodicals;
  • discounts at the EGEA (Università Bocconi bookshop), working papers and material produced by teaching staff and by University and SDA research centres. Bibliographical searches on request. Plus gadgets! Access to all Università Bocconi's price reduction (theatres, shops, etc.);
  • access to the Language Centre in Piazza Sraffa 11 for self-learning or language courses.

Useful Services

You'll find the most useful and personalized help from the Student and Internal Relations Service of the Masters Division.
This service helps participants with visa and permit to stay applications, and to get settled in Milan.
It also prepares a detailed Student Resource Guide which is given to all participants.
It's full of useful addresses, has up-to-date services and references and tells you where to find special deals.
